Will dermaplaning make my facial hair grow back darker or thicker?

No. This is the most common dermaplaning myth. The fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) we remove will grow back the same colour, thickness and softness it was before. Hair colour and thickness are determined by your follicles, not by how it is removed at the surface.

Is dermaplaning safe for sensitive skin?

Yes — dermaplaning is one of the gentlest exfoliating treatments available and is often well tolerated by sensitive skin. We avoid dermaplaning over active acne, sunburned skin or compromised areas, but for general sensitivity it is suitable.

How often should I have dermaplaning?

Is there downtime after dermaplaning?

A surgical blade is passed over the skin of the face removing the superficial dead skin cells of the stratum corneum (top layer of the epidermis) as well as shaving away the soft peach-fuzz known as vellus hair to reveal smooth translucent skin. As these fine, downy hairs do not have a blood supply, they’ll grow back to their original state — no need to fear them becoming thicker or darker.
